Discover Spain While You Teach and Earn

Spain has a strong demand for qualified English teachers, and many new teachers find opportunities in private language schools across the country. With a manageable cost of living in many areas, especially when sharing housing, you’ll be able to enjoy life in Spain both in and out of the classroom.

Teaching in Spain is a great way to build your classroom experience, earn a steady income, and explore a different culture and lifestyle – all at the same time.

Start Teaching in a Place You’ll Want to Stay

Spain is one of the most popular countries in Europe to start teaching English. There’s consistent demand for teachers, the lifestyle is social and relaxed, and many new teachers find they can live well and enjoy their surroundings while building valuable classroom experience.

You can teach in San Sebastián itself, a city with a strong sense of local identity and a pace of life that’s easy to settle into. It’s home to a growing number of English teachers and expats, with plenty of cafés, green spaces, and places to unwind between classes.

There are also teaching opportunities in other cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, and Valencia, or you may choose to explore freelance or online teaching after the course.

The CELTA course* runs full-time for four weeks in San Sebastián. You’ll finish with a CELTA certificate, hands-on classroom experience, and the confidence to step into your first teaching role in Spain or beyond.

After the course, many graduates stay in Spain to look for work in private language schools, where hiring often takes place in person. Being in the country puts you in a strong position – you’ll be able to meet schools face-to-face and respond quickly to job openings.

There’s also growing demand for online English teaching, which some graduates pursue either as a main income or to supplement part-time roles.

Delivered by London School, the only authorised CELTA centre in Spain’s Basque Country

Your CELTA course is delivered by London School of Languages – an authorised Cambridge English centre with over a decade of experience running CELTA courses.

You’ll train full-time at their centre in San Sebastián, where you’ll gain practical classroom skills and hands-on teaching experience with real students.

Accredited Certification

The course you’ll take through London School leads to a CELTA – a globally recognised teaching qualification awarded by Cambridge English, part of the University of Cambridge.

Why School of TEFL? A Personal Note

I started School of TEFL because I know what it’s like to look at TEFL courses and wonder who to trust – or if it’s even the right step. When I started out, I wanted straight answers, real support, and a course that would actually prepare me.

That’s what we offer here.

When you enrol through School of TEFL, you’ll take the same accredited course delivered by our respected partner, London School of Languages. But we also try to make the process a little easier – at the moment, you can get €100 off London School’s Teaching Young Learners course, and if you complete the Spain course in full but don’t pass, we’ll refund €315 of your deposit.

You’ll also get a few extras: a free Grammar Course to help you prepare, access to a library of lesson plans when you start teaching, and ongoing support from people who’ve done this themselves.

We aren’t a big corporate operation. We’re a small, friendly team – and we’ll treat you like a person, not a sale.

If you’ve read this far, you’re probably serious about making a change. I’d love to help you make it happen.
